Virtually feature complete.
The app is almost feature complete. I'm kind of all over the place, but I feel the need to document it.
I cracked open a new physical Rider-Waite deck that I bought recently. Figured I would use the deck to help me go through and update the card descriptions in the application.
As such, I'm also updating the code, because I'm editing the card descriptions to be more modern where possible without ruining Waite's text. Taking the time to understand the writing, I guess, would be the best way to describe what it is that I'm doing. But it's also cleaning up the text for the app and for anyone else who is using it. After I'm done with that process I'll have to use the app more and do some reading through it and click to the cards. Eventually I'll have the Kabbalistic and astrological attributions in there as well. I don't know where I'm going to source that information from yet though. Maybe I can commit enough of it to memory from a bunch of different sources that I can just add my own.
After I opened the deck and bathed it in Nag Champa to purify it, I ask it what I would need for us (the deck and I) to work well together. I laid a simple three card spread, and it came back with:
The Magician, IX of Wands, and The High Priestess.
The first card pulled was the IX of Wands, which is the subject, in this case it would be me. But it lets me know that I need to be conscious of what I'm building, it also alludes to strength in opposition, and being a formidable antagonist or opponent, which is informed by the Magician.
The Magician is definitely the end goal, to have a mastery and understanding of all the symbols, each symbol conveys a lot of information in relatively elegant ways. And it is my personal opinion that when you think in symbols, it opens your mind to more possibilities than may otherwise present themselves on face value.
Lastly, The High Priestess is how to get there. In working with this deck, the way to get there is going to be building the "Shekinah--the co-habiting glory." An inner sanctum within myself.
It was good advice, so I just shuffled the deck until some cards popped out, and that's the order that I'm looking at and editing the descriptions.
Currently I'm working on the following cards; The Hanged Man, Death, Temperance, The Tower, The Star, and The Moon. Interesting that all the cards that jumped out were Major Arcana... Or maybe I just didn't shuffle the damn thing well enough 🤣.
